Thinking I was going to recap my Alt experience in a single post was kind of crazy. I had such an incredible experience that it was difficult to even decide how to break it up! Presenting at Alt was a dream come true, not to mention hearing Martha Stewart and Joy Cho speak, along with all the memorable presenters. I definitely had my favorites, and never fear, that entire post about Martha is coming, but in the meantime I thought I would start at the very beginning with answering the question so many of you asked when I announced that I was going..."What are you wearing?"
You know I jump at any chance to style the hell out of a photograph, so showing you what I wore, along with the items I collected each day was a lot of fun. I never sweat what to wear for big events because even if I cannot find the right thing in my closet, I have spent time learning what stores and designers fit me best. You will find the usual suspects in this post, Anthropologie, J.Crew, Madewell, and Nordstrom for shoes. I included the info under each photo, but please comment below or find me online with your questions. For scale, I'm 5'10" and the dresses range in size from a 4 to an 8 (the off size being the red + black Cynthia Rowley from Anthropologie). My feet are let's just say, really, really big.
As a special treat for any Alt attendees who came to my Build Your Business on Instagram Design Camp Class, if you guess the process and tools I used to create these shots, you win a piece of ZR jewelry! Give your best guess below in the comments. Good luck!

YAY! I paid attention... I think you used a foam board or HUMONGOUS light box! And you used to business cards as a color story for your outfits!
ReplyDeleteSo great to meet you and thanks for a great class!
xx, Sam
Samantha good call with the foamcore! t's the best for those fashion layout shots. Glad you enjoyed the class and it was so great meeting you :)
DeleteOOOHHHH. Fun. (And thanks for using my business card in your awesome styling too!) I think you used VSCO + a camera (a good one, though!) Plus, for the record, I think you did a mighty fine job making these collages so pretty! Pattern, Color + a "Shot Caller" trucker hat make this style lovin' gal SMILE. :) xx
ReplyDeleteThanks lady! You are right about VSCO and how could I not include a little airbrush in the wardrobe?! So glad you came to the class. PS I'm still thinking about that yellow blazer...don't think I didn't notice.
DeleteI would say a light box was used for sure! I love this post and the outfits and business cards side by side.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica! You are right about the light box :) So happy to see your comment, I'm a big fan of your jewelry!
DeleteSO glad I went to this session!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming Bethany!
DeleteI would really just like to raid your closet! :) I also am pretty sure that my Gina necklace looks very much like your Lisa one!
ReplyDeleteStrong Island!
DeleteI love this! beautiful roundup (and adore the red dress). thanks for including my business card!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julia! Your card is just lovely :)
DeleteI've misplaced my notes so have no educated guess, HOWEVER, just wanted to say that your Design Camp class was super helpful and I learned a lot lot lot and my head is exploding with instagram info (perhaps the exploding head is why I can't find my notes). Anyway. Thanks for the information download - your presentation was clearly well thought-out and useful while also not being dry as the Utah air.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! So glad you came to the class. Oh my gosh that air!!! I thought California was dry. My face practically shrank into itself!

ReplyDeleteIt was great to meet you! Thank you for including my card in the bunch too. =)
ReplyDeleteOf course Alex! Your card is beautiful! It was so great meeting you :)
DeleteI was sad I missed your class and I secretly admired you from afar during the conference, being a little too shy to say hello. I loved this post and I'll be stopping by regularly!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I hope we get to meet next time around. I am actually really shy too. I hid under the table for most of my preschool experience, and would have preferred to do so until I graduated from high school. Thanks for reading :)
DeleteHid under the table--I love it! Oh I hope we do meet next time around!
